Riding to Southwest Java

Two dimensional
mountains shift to their true depth,
emerge from the sky

City smog recedes,
and palm tree forests arise
along the steep slopes

Jagged landscape
plunges into crashing sea
heavy as lead

The last light dwindles,
flattening our distinctions
to strip all meaning
