Ticker Tape

Quotidian tragedy
Broken pictographic hearts
Streamers in the parade
Drops in the rain
Memories, puddles of litter
That can’t evaporate

  1. I ought to mention that there is a band called Everyday Tragedy, and I was aware of their name before I wrote this poem. I didn’t simply pick up a thesaurus and just change it, though, our French class had been talking about “la télé-réalité” and how “les choses quotidiennes” had become entertainment. That word found it’s way to English, a long time ago, actually, but isn’t oft-used (nor is “oft-used” or “nor”). So yeah, that’s my story about this poem.
